It is worse than Galeon's tab browsing too, but hey the feature is still new 
so give them time to sort it out.

Temporary work around is to right click on the frame and choose "Open in new 
tab". Also, middle clicking on a link will open it up in a new tab.

Agreed.

I think the ideal way to do it is to shrink them until they hit a minimum 
width and than do it the Konq way or else the tabs will be too small to be 
meaningful.
