i wasn't aware that everyone had problems; i've seen a few, and those aren't 
necessarily related to 4.5--but i admit, there are problems. but then, which 
release doesn't have any?

didn't look up this post, but if x doesn't start, i rather suspect the graphics 
driver / kernel.

you're correct, of course. the safest and most stable thing is to go with the 
official release. i should have highlighted that.
