I too would recommend 11.3 - at least for everyone who doesn't have an Intel 
gfxcard.

And I wouldn't recommend using a repo of unsupported, barely tested KDE 4.5 
packages for someone who craves stability and predictability. The officially 
supported 4.4 packages are generally very nice.
