Hello,

I've seen many asking because of the same problem in many newsgroup
but there was no usefull reply in any thread. So I try to ask here. I
hope I don't ask something you've discussed a thousand times here -
but I don't see a chance to search through the list...

Anyways...before my problem occured
- - I used Postfix, imapd (imaps) and Squirrelmail (mail webfrontend)
with SuSE 8.0 Professional

now I've updated to
- - SuSE 9.0 Professional with the same components but newer Versions of
Postfix and imapd

Problem:
I cannot login to my mail webinterface anymore because of the
following error message in my /var/log/messages

Dec 23 00:07:32 enterprise imapd[8252]: connect from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1)
Dec 23 00:07:32 enterprise imapd[8252]: Login disabled user=marco
auth=marco host=localhost [127.0.0.1]

Fact:
- - squirrelmail is only able to login with plaintext login mechanisms

I think:
- - The problem could be that 9.0 doesn't accept plaintecht passwords
anymore. If that's right I should enable this for localhost access -
but what shall I do to enable it? Is there a HOWTO?

Or do you think I'm complete wrong?

Regards
Marco
