Whenever you send a mail in the HTML format, the same mail is also sent in
plain text. In the beginning, mail was only designed for plain text.
People wanted to be able to add colour and such to the mails, so something
had to be done. The solution was to use HTML and attach it to the plain
text mail. Since HTML is hard to read in clients without graphical
interfaces an attachment with the same content in plain text is also sent.
Basically you're sending an empty mail with two attachments - one HTML and
one plain text - that's the expected behaviour of all mail clients.

SquirrelMail gives you the possibility to see all attachments, so if
you're reading the HTML attachment there's a link to the plain text one
and vice versa.

Sincerely,
Fredrik
