Oh I'm sorry, you said that in the cvs comments but I didn't pay close
enough attention.

I can see this could be a problem, but first my question would be why
does a plugin not know what version it is itself?!?

Well, sure, but let's see if there is some reason the plugin does not
know what version its own self is....
