I talked to representatives of several RAID controller vendors in the
past. They all showed no interest to add SMART support for external
tools to their Windows drivers. AFIAK, only 3ware has such support, but
still undocumented.

That's pretty amazing. I would have thought they'd welcome the =
interest. Most if not all motherboards have the support for SMART -- it =
makes the controllers inferior in that regard.
