It's all in the /etc/printcap file

easiest way is with a simple passthrough :::the samba machine doesnt
actually print or contain the printer drivers, it just simply passes the
printjob from samba on through printcap, this way is easiest but you need to
make sure the drivers are correctly installed at the client machine printing
through samba:::

quick syntax for this would be

printername | printer description:\
	:sd=/var/spool/lpd/spooldir:\
	:mx#0:\
	:sh:\
	:rm=remote machine IP:\
	:rp=remote printer name:

the spool directory :::sd::: can be pretty much anywhere you want it, if
your setting up a samba printserver for printers with their own IP's :::like
a laserjet with a jetdirect card for instance::: just use the printers IP
for both :rm: and :rp:

amazingly, the default printer share listed in smb.conf will pull these
printers from printcap so theres really not much samba administration to
it!!

If your looking to print from the samba box, you simply add a regular entry
into /etc/printcap as you would a local printer and specify the :rm: and
:rp: flags there... I think... I've never really printed from the samba
machine, I've just always used samba as a printserver.... odd.

Subject: WinNT locally connected printers on Samba Domain

To all,
Hope the weekend was good, was just wondering if anyone knows how to
get
a printer to show up in Samba Domain / Workgroup if the printer is installed
on a local winNT client and viewed through that clients pc within Network
Neighborhood. To peter, Thanks for the email however I only have one alias
for my Samba server and am merely trying to avoid having printers connected
to
users computers only viewable from their connected computer on the network
neighborhood environment. Is there any configuration method to have these
printers show up in a different workgroup?

Thank you in Advance
