Hi,

 whether we like it or not, it seems that KDE will be forced to switch
to the (L)GPLv3 license because of the underlying libraries are already
switching to it. Currently we are tracking down the cases where GPLv2
only license is used in files. "GPLv2 or later" is fine, that is not to
be changed.
 I'd like to ask all kdewebdev developers to think about it and write
down their decisions about the switch on the following page:
http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KDE_Relicensing#Current_Reply_List

Luckily it seems that we are in relatively good shape, altough I did not
check every single file, but some script did for trunk and what I see
there we need to change the license only in Quanta, and only for files
that were created by Jens Herden and me. :) Another search showed that
Eric's name appears in lots of problematic files (I don't know where
though.)

Kommander is very problematic as we cannot change the license for the Qt
code, but Michal please review that the code that you own is GPLv2+
licensed.

Still I'd like to have a statement from all developers involved
(including those who don't have their name in the copyright section,
but contributed with a non-trivial patch to the applications) on this
list and tell us your choice. If you can, also add your name and
choices to the wiki page.

Here are your choices, please reply with yes/no if you agree or not to
change the license from->to:

GPLv2->GPLv2+:
LGPLv2->LGPLv2+:
GPLv2->GPLv2 and GPLv3:
LGPLv2->LGPLv2 and LGPLv3:
Let KDE e.V. decide about future license changes[*]:

And for the record, here are my choices:
GPLv2->GPLv2+: NO
LGPLv2->LGPLv2+: NO
GPLv2->GPLv2 and GPLv3: YES
LGPLv2->LGPLv2 and LGPLv3: YES
Let KDE e.V. decide about future license changes: YES

Andras

[*] The document that you will have to sign in order to let KDE e.V.
handle your license is not ready yet, so this is not a final commitment
from your part. The idea was discussed at this year's general assembly
of the e.V, see the official minutes of the meeting:
http://ev.kde.org/reports/2007.php .
