Hi jimmo,

please understand that using two instances of Quanta is not officially
supported by us because of the problems you have encountered.

Some background info how Quanta open files and projects during startup. You
have two options in Quanta:
1. open the last opened files and 2. open the last opened project.

Number 1 does just open what was open at last shutdown of Quanta.
Number 2 does open the project but no files from the project unless you are
working with project views (see later)

Having both options on makes you feel like the last project files got reloaded
but in fact every file that was open gets reloaded.

Both option do save the information about the last opened files/project in the
Quanta configuration file. There is only _one_ configuration file for Quanta.
Consequence is that every instance does on startup read the same file. That
means every instance will open the same project/files on startup.
You may argue that Quanta could detect that there is an instance running and
not load the files/projects and you where right. But in the moment it is like
this.

So if you want to work with more than one instance you have to disable the
autoloading functions in Quanta. At least for the project because Quanta
tries to detect if you attempt to open the same project twice gives a
warning.

You may also look into the project views. There you can define a set of files
as a view and switch between different views with a few clicks. It also
possible to define a default view that gets loaded on opening of a project.

So my advice is do not autoload files and projects and use project views
instead.

Jens

P.S. my impression is that this question should have gone to the userlist of
Quanta and not the developer list. There might be others who are interested
in stuff like this.
