BTW, I also lost data due to not paying enough attention. :) With an 
rsync syncronization... Still rsync is a good tool. ;)
If you happen to have such a bad experience, you realize that the only 
solution is to have a real backup system. Or in case of project a 
version controlling system, preferably running on another machine. These 
days at least all my code is in a VCS, but I'm still lazy to really 
backup my other data, like mails. :-0
