malcolm: Your trick did the job. Didn't see that menu option! Thanks

kyle: I should have RTFM! :-)  However, launching Quanta inside a terminal
with the "--unique" option works, but I can't get it to work with KDE's File
Associations.  With kcontrol i've associated the "x-php" mime type to the
command "quanta --unique %U". I've set the "Run in terminal" switch inside
advanced options, but it didn't help...any idea?
