In XML you know exactly when the autocompletion should show up: as soon
as the user presses "<" or space inside a tag (after "<"), or after "
inside a tag for tag attributes. In PHP there is usually no such rule.
I think it would be very annoying to see a completion box when you type
"if" or "for". So it is up to the user to decide when he wants to
insert a PHP function and when he wants to type just something there.
But if you tried more, you could see that when it is possible, the
completion box is shown automatically: after $, after -> or after
typing "new " if there are classes defined in your file.

Yes, it should do if you have those. At least in any recent Quanta
version, in some older ones, you have to select to show the groups for
PHP.
