greetings,
I'm posting to the list for the first time.
I appreciate that is a specialist list but I think I need your help. I'm
fairly new to Linux and I am also compiling from source for the first time.
For some reason, on Mandrake V10.2(LE), Quanta (V3.3.2) seems to be the only
application installed by default.
I am trying to compile from kdewebdev-3.3.2.tar so that I can run Kommander,
Tidy, KFileReplace and Kompare with Quanta as a complete family on KDE 3.3.2.
I am having trouble with 'configure', I 'm stuck and I haven't got to make
yet, I need some help.
This is what I have done...
As a first step INSTALL advises on running ./configure
This I have done and I have installed these (missing) library files along the
way (via urpmi),
libfam-2.6.9-alt1.i586.rpm ...............................(not sure if it is
required, it was one of the first libraries reported missing)
libkdecore4-devel-3.3.2-123mdk.i586.rpm ...(apparently this is kdelib-dev -
most confusing, thank God for Google)
libxslt-proc-1.1.12-3mdk.i586.rpm
perl-XML-LibXSLT-1.57-2mdk.i586.rpm ...........(not sure if its required, I
found it via Google on 'libxslt' - if it is required I have a problem since
this it fails to install fully)
This, I think, is my problem....
running ./configure --quiet ..reports as follows,
[root@happy kdewebdev-3.3.2]# ./configure --quiet
appending configuration tag "CXX" to libtool
appending configuration tag "F77" to libtool
configure: WARNING: knewstuff/knewstuff.h: present but cannot be compiled
configure: WARNING: knewstuff/knewstuff.h: check for missing prerequisite
headers?
configure: WARNING: knewstuff/knewstuff.h: see the Autoconf documentation
configure: WARNING: knewstuff/knewstuff.h: section "Present But Cannot Be
Compiled"
configure: WARNING: knewstuff/knewstuff.h: proceeding with the preprocessor's
result
configure: WARNING: knewstuff/knewstuff.h: in the future, the compiler will
take precedence
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------------ ##
configure: WARNING: ## Report this to the AC_PACKAGE_NAME lists. ##
configure: WARNING: ## ------------------------------------------ ##
./configure: line 36744: xslt-config: command not found
./configure: line 36745: test: : integer expression expected
configure: error: You need at least libxslt 1.0.18 for this
version of xsldbg
[root@happy kdewebdev-3.3.2]#
I suspect that the libxslt library is fine and that my problem is now with
'knewstuff' & co.
Using Google, I have found a few posts complaining about 'AC_PACKAGE_NAME' and
a disturbing article by Andrew McCall on Autoconf, but no useful remedies,
please help.
Thanks,
Brent.
p.s. my apologies for the size of the 'narrative'.
