This is another question. As I understood the original question was
about when you insert an image with the tag dialog, not when you type
"<img". In the dialog there is a field for Alternative text which
should be filled. I said that there is no logic behind inserting alt=""
when this field is not filled. Better you notice that you forgot the
alt attribute when you validate the document.
Inserting required attributes when you type the tag might be useful, yet
it has the same problem. For example you type "<img" and Quanta inserts
<img alt="">, and you love it, but don't enter anything between the "".
Your document will validate, but it will not be valid for real. But
this is something I'm open to discuss. Just that right now there is no
information in the DTEP regarding the attributes requirement status.
