IMMEDIATE OPENING. CATALOGING/TECHNICAL SERVICES. Librarians - are
you looking for a change? Are you a detail person? Small but busy
coastal NH public library is looking for a full-time cataloger who
can also assist with IT issues. Our highly automated library has
70,000+ volumes and a TLC circulation system. This position is a
mostly behind the scenes job with the responsibility to fill in at
the Circulation and Reference Desks as the need arises, and is under
the supervision of the Head of Technical Services. Applicants should
be well-versed in the MARC cataloging of all types of library
materials. They should have a high technical knowledge of computers
and their quirks, be comfortable assisting staff and patrons with
software and hardware problems, be familiar with html and web design,
possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be able
to assist in teaching computer classes to the public. Applicant must
be able to lift and move computers and monitors, crawl under desks or
in tight spaces to hook them up, and not mind the dust doing so. MLS
(or equivalent experience) required and three to five years of public
library experience preferred. Salary range (with MLS): $33,813-
$43,290. Generous benefits. Position available October 1st at the
latest, perhaps earlier. Full job description available at
http://www.hampton.lib.nh.us/library/jobs.htm. Send resume and three
current professional references with phone numbers to Director Amanda
Reynolds Cooper, Lane Memorial Library, 2 Academy Avenue, Hampton, NH
03842 or to acooper@hampton.lib.nh.us. A background check is
required. EOE.
