The 0.8 API breakage issue has been fixed. 

However the default for libprelude is now to not enable asynchronous timer
by default. 

Prelude NIDS still rely on this feature being enabled by default, so
current NIDS CVS will compile, but won't work correctly. 

I'm not fixing the current NIDS code to enable asynchronous timer because
they are going to be disabled in a future commit (it make prelude-nids
inherently vulnerable to a race condition, resulting in a crash).
