I have the same problem. I used pptpclient on Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) for a
long time. Then I upgraded to 6.10 (Edgy) and now pptpclient just hangs
during the connecting phase. If I hit "stop", I get the same two messages
that Esteban gets.
I posted another message on this list regarding the problem before I saw
this thread. It's titled 'hangs after "Cannot determine ethernet address
for proxy ARP"'
