Thanks to all those who posted to the list and wrote me mail direct....

It was that there were *2* command.com's

I needed to run the one out of System32....

Now that I got this working I discovered this is a kind of messy way to do
it. One guy said, "Why downgrade NT? Use Win32::Console" Well, that's
what I am trying now.

Thanks again!

John

Little bit off Topic but...Hi John!

I assume this command.com file is an old one from Windows 95 or stuff like
that. When you start it from Start/Run you get the DOS box just for a
second, because you are getting the same error as when starting from
cmd.exe: Incorrect DOS version. After that the box closes immediately.

Search on your disk for other command.com files. In W2K it is in
c:\winnt\system32. Use this command.com to start it from Start/Run and
hopefully be happy.

Hope this helps...

Lutz

I'll ask anyway.
;-)
Thanks to some replies from the Net I found out that TERM::AnsiColor will
only work with command.com and not NT's cmd.exe
Ok...
I also found out that you have to load the ansi.sys driver in your config.nt
That's cool too...
My problem is that according to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article I came
across that you have to type:
command.com from C:\dos
Well, I have that installed but when I type 'command' from that directory I
get this error kicked back to me:
Incorrect DOS version.
This is when I try to start command >from within a cmd.exe session.
I try to run command.com from Start/Run and all I get is a DOS box that
stays on the screen for a split second and then goes away?
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get NT to run DOS' command.com?

Thanks a lot,
John
