You don't say which language you wish to use.

Open Office only shipped with US spellchecker. New local dictionaries [ inc
GB ] are at the following:

http://whiteboard.openoffice.org/lingucomponent/download_dictionary.html

If you install the GB spellchecker you will find that there is an "abc" next
to UK English as well as USA English.
