I've seen *similar* behavior on NTFS. Permissions are not properly set 
because of the way OpenOffice.org (and M$-Office, for that matter) 
handle temporary files. You'd think that when you create a file, it get 
umask'ed to 002 and then you save it and are done. But what really 
happens, is that the temporary file that gets created while editing, 
ultimately overwrites your original file and somehow screws up 
permissions.
