If you want to use OOo as a frontend for LaTeX you could have a look at my
Writer2LaTeX,
which has some *rudimentary* support for this.

It's mainly a converter OOo Writer -> LaTeX 2e; but using a special
template for OOo
it is - with limitations - possible to use OOo as a semi-WYSIWYG LaTeX
producer.
