In all of the v3.1 installations I have seen, the IDE hard-disk drives are
"demoted" to DMA mode 2, regardless whether they can actually perform at
higher modes or not.  My current installation is on Maxtor 7200rpm ATA133, but
is also demoted to DMA mode 2.  This causes degradation in speed when
transferring large files.  Any fix or patch or configuration to cause
appropriate DMA setting?
