You use version 1.3.1. Download the current snapshot from
http://snapshot.ntop.org/tgz/ntop-current.tgz, it's much better.
What I realised is that you haven't got the libpcap on your system. The
best is to download it from
http://www.tcpdump.org/daily/libpcap-current.tar.gz and put it in a
directory lets say "path-to-pcap". Follow the instructions in
ntop/docs/BUILD-NTOP.txt (in the directory where you unpacked ntop).
When you run ./configure in the ntop-directory, run it with
./configure --with-pcap-root=path-to-pcap
and perhaps other parameters. Good luck!

CU,

Michael
