Is this really a good idea? I added smatd.conf to 411 and have all my
nodes doing weekly short self-tests on their local disks. I also get
emails from one of my nodes warning me of a (supposedly) impending
disk failure due to "Currently unreadable (pending) sectors". If
these self-test are worth anything and the emails correct, I would
certainly like to keep smartd.conf around, and, indeed, add it to 411
by default. (The default settings are not very helpful as the mail
messages bounce.)

If people are having problems with smartd.conf and it is in 411 they
could always just make it a blank file, which should do the same
thing as removing it.

Here's my smartd.conf file:

# Setup the internal drive to send daily emails if something goes wrong.
# Run a short self-test every Sunday at 2am. (-s S/../../7/02)
# Report changes to the health status (-H)

/dev/hda -H -M daily -m root -s S/../../7/02
