For some reason my company is asking me to investigate options without wireless so \
the link you gave is likely what I need. I do have 1 person using SyncWisePro 7 but I \
don't think it supports near as many devices.

No.  Cradle only works with GMS when the workstation has an IP connection to the GMS \
server.    
Other than reducing the over the air traffic (which doesn't matter for users with \
unlimited data plans), I don't see a reason to configure GMS as a cradle sync.    
There are some 3rd party solutions you can look at for desktop cradle sync that don't \
require a sync server like GMS.  If you are looking for an updated version of \
PDAConnect (without the Novell branding) then the place to start looking is \
http://www.sybase.com/products/allproductsa-z/xtndconnectpc
