This presents an extra load on the server and GWIA has to deal with all
the incoming spam/virus traffic.

I would suggest getting a trial copy of GWG, and find out how it works
for your specific environment.

This is one that always opens a can of worms....Ive used both, but I
prefer GWGuardian. The only downside is the need for a Windows server
to run it on.

I have recently discovered this list (wish I would have found it
sooner) and have a question for all you experts. I would like to find
out what people use to protect their GroupWise systems from viruses
and
spam. I currently run GWAVA but am seriously considering changing to
GWGuardian. Has anyone else made this move? Thanks in advance.
