Claire - without some more details about your problem,
it's not really possible to help. What architecture
system are you running on? Did you compile the code
yourself, or obtain it from somewhere else? If so,
are you sure that this is the same architecture it was
compiled on?

The snmp agent needs to delve fairly deeply into the
guts of the operating system, to retrieve the information
it needs. One effect of this is that it is *not* usually
possible to run an agent compiled for one O/S release
on a system running a different O/S release. You *will*
need to re-compile on the 2.7 system.

If you require any further assistance, you're going
to have to provide details of what sort of make problems
you encountered.

Dave

What were the errors you saw from the "make" command?

Well,

i downloaded ucd-snmp-4.2-solaris2.6.tar.gz into my
system and it works fine. When tried to test it in
another system that runs 2.7, the snmpd daemon comes
always with the error message below:

init_kmem: kvm_open failed: Error 0

I tried to down load ucd-snmp-4.2.tar.gz and compile it
in 2.7 environment. This also did not work during
"make" and
"make install" process due to missing snmpd.

Any ideas. Your help is much appreciated.

Rgds,

Husam.
