You use the smart card library that comes with the
version 1.0 base components and not the version that
comes with the NT4 supplement DDK that has been released
appr. 4 weeks ago.
The base components version of the smart card library has
a bug which prevents you from processing the G&D card correctly.
Please use the supplement DDK. This version will set the supported
protocol mask correctly.

(SmartcardExtension*)->ReaderCapabilities.SupportedProtocols.Async is
0x00000003
What makes G&D Starcos card supported protocol value
0x00010002?
