VPA, I suspect modprobe.preload too. I'll report results on cleaning it up
tomorrow, but for now, I can say that it's really weird to see e.g. the quite
buggy (http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0502.2/0501.html) modules
for the Stallion serial multiport preloaded, especially on a machine which has
no such card!

Could anyone from Mandrake comment on the contents of modprobe.preload? Is it
really needed for some reason?

IMHO harddrake should insert those preload entries only if needed (if that
hardware is detected on the system) and remove them automatically when the
hardware is no longer detected during boot (harddrake init script)?

I know that this problem has been reported before with 10.2 kernels, but it
hasn't been resolved.

This is a very small excerpt from my dmesg for today. I could give you the same
message going back to 13th February, but it is identical.

This message is repeated 127 times.
