      Distribution: Cooker
Summary: Shipping samba-3.0.11 is bad for upgrades
           Product: samba3-common
           Version: 3.0-0.alpha20.2mdk
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
         Component: program
        AssignedTo: bgmilne@mandrake.org
        ReportedBy: andreas@mandrakesoft.com

The release notes for samba-3.0.12RC1 say:

"""
libsmbclient Binary Compatibility
==================================

Please note that a change has been made to the _SMBCCTX structure
in source/include/libsmbclient.h. This change is not backwards
compatible with applications linked against the libsmbclient.so
library from Samba 3.0.11. However, it is compatible with all
other Samba 3.0.x releases. This means that it will be most likely
be necessary to recompile any applications linked against the
3.0.11 version of the library.
"""

Perhaps it would be best to avoid shipping 3.0.11 and going back to 3.0.10
or even 3.0.12?
