------- Additional Comments From mrmazda@ij.net 2005-03-21 15:38 -------
Documentation seems like the wrong component. The product should work properly
without ordinary users needing to refer to any documentation.

description:
This is a companion to bug 5869, which deals with poor size scaling. The
screenshots I will attach, and the short descriptions that will accompany them,
provide much better explanation of the problem than what I can do with words alone.

The short story is only a tiny few of the common fonts specified by web pages
get anything resembling what was requested or what is displayed when Mozilla
runs on windoze instead of Mandrake. Something needs to be done to provide that
most of the commonly requested fonts are reasonably aliased to something
actually installed, even if that means installing more than the already large
quantity of fonts already installed by default.

The screenshots coming were taken on Win98 (Mozilla 1.4 public zip download),
Mandrake 9.1 (Mozilla 1.5 public tar.gz download), and 9.2 Cooker (Mozilla
1.4-13 rpm).
