If I select 1920x1200 (Dell Inspiron 8500,GeForce4 Ti 4200), then about 200 
pixels to the left and right are black. The are included in KDE's desktop but 
not shown. No "virtual scrolling" is enabled. 
 
Also, an odd resulution that is selectable is 1920x1440 (which is too high). 
The result is that the bottom part of the desktop is outside the screen.
