using a custom compiled version of phoenix's 2.6 kernel now. Don't want
to go back to 2.4 just for hibernate.

ACPI is really bad for me.. 2.4 kernels or latest 2.6 kernels.
Suspend to RAM suspends fine but that's it. There's no way I can switch
on the system again except by removing the battery!!

Hibernate worked on a 2.4 kernel. But that was also fine while
suspending to disk. On the next reboot, kernel tried to resume from swap
and for some reason rebooted. That means I was locked in an endless
reboot cycle! 

Had to boot from a rescue disk and mkswap again. (Didn't know of the
noresume kernel option at that time!!)

So APM rules for me :)
