I was aiming at fixing basic KDE issues first, but if you want to add
development stuff too:

1)QTDIR and KDEDIR not set (and other things claimed in the
README.Mandrake_Linux provided in the package):

There were some more, but I just got an emergency call to fix a broken
(power supply died, taking disk in hardware RAID set with it) production
server ...
