Perfect, thanks a lot! The only problem I have is that LyX cannot see LaTeX; 
in fact texlive installs in /usr/local/texlive/2007, e.g. article.cls is at
/usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base/article.cls

Would you suggest a symlink from /usr/local/texlive/2007 to a more tetex-like 
path, as /usr/share/texmf?
