SDI is not Starwars from Ronald Regan, but the digital video standard
for
professional uncompressed video in the brodadcasting business.

It uses a stream of 250 Mbit/sec. There exists a lot of PCI boards
with processors which are used under Win NT to do realtime effects
on the video stream, store video on HD or do other things.
(just use Altavista to get an iumpression what SDI + Video is about)

Please do not forget with the video4Linux API that there are
other things than BT 848 in the video business.

It would be definitely cool if Linux would become a high performance
digital video editing tool one day in the far future.
