Uh, are you sure you made the _right_ change in arch/sparc64/Makefile?
It looks like you are failing the NEW_GCC test in the Makefile, when you
shouldn't be.

Can you send me the output of this:

sparc64-linux-gcc -m64 -mcmodel=medlow -S -o /dev/null -xc /dev/null >/dev/null 2>&1
echo $?
