I am almost positive that my redhat 6.1 box (at home... can't see it right
now) detects that my hard drive and tape drive want to operate at different
speeds.  I have an NCR53C810 controller, a ~1 gig SCSI II hard drive, and
an ancient Sony DDS II (aka DAT) drive.
