I don't recommend implementing them either.  Before I did that this time I 
had eth0 that could be found by ifconfig -a and cdrecord -scanbus didn't 
get can't find module char-major-97.  A little later on tonight, I'm going 
to reinstall slackware 9.1.  I can install it better each time I do this, 
reason being I learn things between installations that make the next one 
better and crackers are going to be real unhappy because anything that's 
not on the slackware CD's is already backed up to other media.  So that's 
not a problem.  What does tend to get to be a problem is using Linux for 
any productive work.  There's all this disruptive compulsory learning that 
has to be done inbetween.  Even so, this operating system beats the 
garbage out of that Redmond Washington Virus even on its worst days.
