Before assuming its kensingtons fault-

make sure /dev/input/mice exists (should have been part of the new
dev package) AND make sure /dev/mouse and /dev/usbmouse are symlinks
to /dev/input/mice

The /dev/input stuff is really new. Its development stuff. You can
always expect quirks.

My Logitech optical mouse works swell with the 2.4 backport drivers, though.
