For me, this made it slightly more stable. The main problem I'm having is
that if I pause a stream, Realplayer will stop responding, even if I close
it and re-open it. I have to do a 'killall realplay' and then re-launch it
to get it to come back.

The problem still happens from time to time, but is less frequent now.

I would like it to be using ESD, but i'm having the same problem, "Cannot
open audio device. Another application may be using it."

I'm also having problems configuring Netscape to handle files with
realplayer. I finally figured out that since I had installed it as root,
it hadn't touched my user preferences. I went to download the installer
again (I had deleted it) but the download page (at least the one
pointed to by linuxppc.com) seems to have disappeared.
