Subject:    More error 256 installing LinuxPPC 2000

I have been trying to upgrade from 1993 Q3 to 2000 on a 9500.  I am
getting the error 256 that has been mentioned in the past, but I have
not found a remedy either here in the FAQ.  As has been mentioned
before, the installer appears to be working fine for about half of
the install, then rpms cannot be installed for many (perhaps
hundreds?) of packages.  Each time I get the dialog box indicating an
error 256 has occurred.  Is there a fix for this?
