Hi,

today I gave a try to 2.1.51 and got an oops while trying to load the
smc-ultra driver module for my ethercard. The module stayed in memory and
lsmod reported it as uninitialized. In the same machine I have another
ethercard, a NE2000 whose driver is compiled into the kernel and seems to
be working all right. This is on an old Compaq Prosignia, a Pentium with
16mb memory and an AHA1522 fitted.

If anybody has a clue, I would be more than happy to try out anything. I
will also try to compile the smc driver into the kernel and see if this
makes any difference. FWIW other modules appear to load ok, ppp for
example. I am using modutils-2.1.34.

Logs follow, sorry for the length of this...

-K.
