HM> Any way to supervise the productive ethernet interfaces in such a setup?

What do you mean by supervise ?
Do you want the cluster to perform a failover when a service ethernet
adapter looses it physical link ?

Or do you want heartbeat to check if he can ping some other machines?

The latter is done by the ping command in the ha.cf file (if I'm not
mistaken). Monitoring the physical link can alse be done, but requires
some extra "programming". Most current ethernet cards support the use
of mii-tool to read out their connection status. You could make some
daemon that monitors this connection at regular intervals and stops
heartbeat if connection is lost (eg. wire broken, plug pulled from
switch etc.) and restart heartbeat if connection is restored.

Alan, maybe you could incorporate such a checkup in heartbeat itself ?
