Hm, probably difficult, since Alex seems to respond no longer to EMail. 
If Herbert really wants to take over maintainance, it's probably easier 
to just contact HPA and say that and get a hvr/ directory in people/ 
and write access to crypto/ (all relative to 
ftp.kerbel.org/pub/linux/kernel/)

I know Alexander does read his mail from time to time.
It would be fair to at least warn him somebody likes to take over
some work before doing so.
