What's EPD?
EPD is a new encapsulated vectorial graphic format.
We've developed it and put it with GPL License at
http://EPD.sourceforge.net/

The idea is very simple and powerful:
EPD uses the standard PDF (Adobe trademark) graphic syntax.
Every line is only one command.
Every line starting with # is a comment.
The command BBox(x1,y1,x2,y2) will specify the Bounding Box.
This is a simple example

# This is only a test with the new EPD format

What's SVG?
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is standard under development by W3C
http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/
If you need a SVG browser viewer, we suggest you the
Adobe SVG Viewer (plug-in) at
http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/

What's epd2svg?
It's a simple and powerful convert from EPD to SVG.
At the moment, this is a beta with poor ducumentation (only the POD file
inside the epd2svg.pl program)
We think it can work good in every OS already tested with txt2pdf (our
best product)
http://www.sanface.com/txt2pdftesters.html
AIX, SGI, Windows95, Linux, NEXT, NT4, MacOS, Solaris,
OpenVMS/Alpha 7.1, BeOS v 4.5.1, Amiga OS3.1, Acorn-risc RiscOS 3.5,
SCO Unixware 7.0, FreeBSD 4.0, HP-UX 10.20, Digital Unix 4.0D, HP MPE/iX

Where you can find epd2svg tool?
At http://EPD.sourceforge.net/ and at every CPAN mirror S/SA/SANFACE/

We need your suggestion and your help!

From: Sian Leitch <algol68@sleitch.nildram.co.uk>
Subject: Release 0.1.0 of Ctrans Algol 68
Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2000 14:41:20 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

This is to announce release 0.1.0 of the Ctrans Algol 68 compilation
system.

The Ctrans Algol68-to-C translator was written by the Defence
Research Agency (part of the establishment of the UK Ministry of
Defence) as one part of a larger package called ELLA (a language for
designing VLSI chips).

PROVIDED

The Ctrans Algol 68 compilation system provides a means of compiling
and maintaining programs written in the high-level language Algol 68.
The package provides the sources of the following:-

        a68toc - the Algol 68 to C translator
        mm - the Module Manager
        mm.exec - shell script
        setup.mm - shell script
                reset.ctrans - shell script
        ctrans.texi - the implementation notes
        mm.texi - the documentation of `mm'
        rscompiler.texi
                      - the documentation of the embedded compiler
                        within `a68toc'
        a68toc.1 - the manpage for `a68toc'
        example/ - various example programs
        manage/ - driver files for `mm'

LANGUAGE

Algol 68 was designed under the auspices of IFIP (International
Federation for Information Processing) as a successor to Algol 60.
Algol 68 is a radically different language of greater applicability.
It was dogged in its initial years with a bad press, probably mainly
engendered by the fact that its defining report was (and is)
virtually incomprehensible to the lay reader. The language was
implemented on many mainframe computers, but due partly to the
expense in producing compilers, and partly due to the ready
availability of other languages, fell more-or-less into disuse.

Algol 68 is a powerful language which is particularly suited to
today's operating systems. Although the Ctrans compiler does not
implement the whole of the language (parallel programming and formats
are the principal omissions), the subset provided with the 0.1.0
release will enable programmmers to produce useful programs. The
Ctrans package provides basic modular programming facilities.
