Subject: MIME Defanger 0.3 -- flexible mail scanner for virus/trojan protection
Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2000 19:15:14 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

MIME Defanger is a MIME mail scanner designed to run on Linux or UNIX
systems, and intended mainly to protect Windows e-mail clients from
mail-borne viruses.

MIME Defanger uses the new Sendmail 8.10 "Milter" API to intervene in
SMTP transactions. It examines each part of a MIME message and decides
on the disposition according to configuration rules. The configuration
file is written in Perl, so the rules are as flexible as Perl. MIME
Defanger scans are done once per message, rather than once per recipient
as is the case with procmail-based systems.

MIME Defanger is available from:

        http://www.roaringpenguin.com/mimedefang

and is released under the GNU General Public License.

Changes since 0.2:

Extra logging via syslog; more reliable way to determine the file name
of an attachment; documentation suggests increasing milter timeouts.

From: Gregor Schmid <gs@qfs.de>
Subject: qflog 0.97.0 - new version of log viewer/server released
Date: Wed, 12 Jul 2000 19:12:05 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Quality First Software announces the new release of our log message
viewer qflog at
http://www.qfs.de/en/projects/qflog/index.html

What is qflog ?
===============

qflog is a tool for browsing log messages that is tightly integrated
with the log package of our free Java library qflib[*]. It has support
for sorting, various kinds of filters, incremental search and
bookmarks.

Additionally qflog provides a graphical interface to control the
generation of log messages during the runtime of a program. To that
end qflog can either communicate with a program over RMI, or the
component for display and control of the messages can be integrated
directly into a program.

qflog comes with full source code and API reference and a manual in
English and German (HTML and PDF).

qflog is compatible with JDK 1.1, 1.2 and above.

New in version 0.97.0
=====================

Skipping 0.96.0 for compatibility with qflib versioning, this release
removes all RMI-dependent stuff from the de.qfs.apps.qflog.logview
package. In the future other protocols may be implemented for better
Applet and non Java support.

New features:
=============

- - New menu entry in log window to remove visible rows from the table.
- - Uses FocusFixer to work around a JDK 1.1/motif bug.
- - The test client has a new option -configfile <file> to designate a
  file for saving and loading its configuration.

Bugs fixed:
==========

- - When restoring the LogLevel configuration, the value for the queue
  size was overwritten by the pre queue level.
- - The message counter in the status line is fixed. Removing all
  entries caused even the total count to reset to zero and it didn't
  update when new messages arrived but were invisible due to the
  filter settings.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Release 0.4 is now available for the Open Source Audio Library
Project (OSALP). Two new capabilities are added plus bug fixes.
New capabilities include automatic data conversion and memory
caching. Automatic data conversion allows developers who wish to
add to the library to specify just how their class will operate
on data. It will convert endian, data size, and sample rate
automatically. Memory caching provides a memory pool of the most
recent accessed audio data so for those classes that need to
backup over old data it can be retrieved from the memory cache
instead of pulling it through the chain.

The Open Source Audio Library Project is a C++ library that
handles audio programming tasks. It is designed for rapid
prototyping and for those who would like to add audio
capabilities to their applications easily. It is LGPL and fully
open source. It can be obtained at:

Ctrans is a portable implementation of the high-level language Algol
68 with a translator producing C source code.

The package is fully documented, but does not yet include the
language book
  "Programming Algol 68 Made Easy"
which I should be uploading in August this year.

Any queries to me.

The file ctrans_0.1.0.tar.gz contains the source files of the package
which can be easily compiled (see INSTALL). The file
Ctrans-Readme_0.1.0.gz contains the installation instructions (very
simple, no configure).

Package managers for Debian, Redhat etc would be welcome to convert
the raw tarball.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Quality First Software announces the new release of our free Java
library qflib available from
http://www.qfs.de/en/projects/qflib/index.html

What is qflib?
==============

One of the key factors in the development of our products is the
reusability of their components. For that reason, many parts have been
separated into a library which has grown into a project of its own
under the name of qflib.

Packages include:
  - elaborate logging system with tool support
  - configuration management for user settings
  - lots of GUI stuff, especially a JTable extension that supports
    sorting and filtering with only a few lines of code
  - a collection of miscellaneous utilities, e.g. a command line
    parser, a thread pool, an extension to ResourceBundle and many
    more

Apart from the source code, complete Javadoc API documentation is
available as well as introductory documentation and examples in
English and German.

Changes
=======

With version 0.97.0 the de.qfs.lib.transaction package is introduced
and the RMI-dependent classes have been separated out of the
de.qfs.lib.log package into the new de.qfs.lib.logrmi package. This
change was necessary to enable logging for applets that have to run
inside versions of Internet Explorer that don't support RMI.

Included for the first time is a small emacs lisp package that greatly
simplifies logging and writing javadoc comments.

Incompatible changes:
=====================

- - User visible changes caused by the split of the de.qfs.lib.log
  package should be constrained to the class RemoteLogFilter. The log
  server qflog is hit a lot harder by this change. A new, compatible
  version is also available.

- - The class ValueEdit and derived classes in the de.qfs.lib.gui
  package have been removed since they were never meant to be there
  and only slipped in through a configuration bug. They can still be
  found in the old qflib versions but should be replaced with Options
  from the de.qfs.lib.option package.

New features:
=============

- - The de.qfs.lib.transaction package adds support for client side
  handling of transactions. Simple actions can be collected in a
  Transaction to form a complex action that can be commited when all
  parts fit together or rolled back when something goes wrong.
- - The class FocusFixer in the de.qfs.lib.gui package implements a
  workaround for a very annoying bug in JDK 1.1 that happens only with
  the motif toolkit and lets windows forget which of their components
  has the focus when they are deactivated.
- - Nested OptionSets are enhanced by allowing Options from a nested set
  to be queried directly.
- - The ArgsParser for command line arguments throws more detailed
  exceptions that have information about the incorrect option. To that
  end the new exceptionsMissingParameterException,
  UnexpectedParameterException and UnknownOptionException were added.
- - A simple mechanism for collecting warnings and error messages is
  implemented in the MessageCollector class.
- - An emacs lisp package named qflib.el is provided in the misc
  directory. It greatly simplifies the use of the de.qfs.lib.log
  package and has a few useful functions beyond that.

Bugs fixed:
===========

- - Using a relative initial setting for a MultiPane used to cause
  problems with JDK 1.3.
- - The arrow icons in the qflib resources have been fixed. They caused
  problems with the headers of a sorted table with JDK 1.3.

Summary:

As recent articles and editorials in Inter@ctive Week, Linux Journal,
and elsewhere have pointed out, Linux is a hot topic for developers of
embedded systems. Amongst suppliers of embedded Linux software tools
and support, Lineo is considered by many to lead the pack. (They have
recently acquired two Canadian companies: FirePlug of Vancouver, known
for their edge router product, and RT Controls of Toronto, known for
their uC Linux product.)

At Lineo, John Drabik has particular interest (and senior
responsibility) for Linux on small MMUless platforms such as PDA's.
During this presentation he will present a brief corporate overview of
Lineo, explain how alternative licensing schemes affect embedded
systems, describe Lineo's Embeddix SDK, and explain how one goes about
shoehorning Linux into a small platform like a PDA. He will also
brief attendees on the challenges and rewards of becoming a developer
of software for embedded Linux systems.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

      Web Calendar 2.2

  Web Calendar is a perl cgi script. It has an interface
similar to dtcm as seen on Sun Solaris. It supports the
standard calendar editing, searching and popup/flashing
reminders. If the wecald is running on the calendar server,
it can also do mail reminders.

  Version 2.0 and later runs under mod_perl!!
  -------------------------------------------

  Features:

   * Allow your user to set up and manager his/her calendar

   * Support public calendars, where everyone can edit his/her own
      calendar entries.

   * Display day, week, and month views of the user's calendar

   * Schedule single or repeating calendar entries

   * Browse and edit another user's calendar, provided permission is given

   * Schedule reminders to give the user notice of events

   * Two levels of restrict access to the user's calendar

   * Merge with other calendars or calendar files

   * Edit a group of calendars (meeting events)

   * Arrange calendars into meeting groups

   * Compare a group of calendars and find schedule conflicts

   *  Announce meetings by email

   * Change the time zone context

   * Support diary, address book etc.

   * Monitor multiple calendars in a single session

 There are actually two perl scripts, one by your weh server as
a cgi script and the other is run by root or nobody (the identity
of your webserver) as a daemon or a cron job. I strongly recommand
you run the calendar daemon as nobody). The calendar daemon takes
care of sending email reminders.
