Hello Anders!

  I have made an invention that could benefit kate users.
whenever editor opens configuration file (e.g. /etc/resolv.conf) and
a cursor is in line or field which is configurable, editor shows
information about the line or field in a separate tiny window (like tooltips).
background color of the field is different to editor window background color.
info window shows information about legal value range and meaning of each value.
(if applicable) user may move between files
and fields faster with tabulator key. if user changes a value in a field, editor
tells about the meaning of the new value. if user presses f1 key
while info windows are shown, ils shows man page of the currently
selected configuration file. pressing f1 again hides man page.

showing information of a configuration file fields could be activated
also when user has shown a configuration file with cat or less or more.
if file contents does not fit to the currently shown window, only shown
part of the files fields are shown in info windows.

purpose of this feature is to show quickly information of the fields of a
configuration file without having to read long man page.

i also have second idea which is related to bash cdpath feature.
if whole directory hierarchy is saved to RAM, user could select
directories quickly. e.g if user wants to move to /really/long/directory/path/a,
it would suffice to write cd a. that way user would not have to write
whole long path name. this requires of course that directory a is unique.

if you know someone who can implement these ideas, please tell about these
ideas for him.
