Summary: Replacing \n in the whole document is slow and crashes
                    kwrite
           Product: kate
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: kwrite
        AssignedTo: kwrite-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: nicolas.brisset eurocopter com

Version: 4.00.71 (KDE 4.0.71 (Alpha1) (using 4.00.71 (KDE 4.0.71 (Alpha1), \
                compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22.18-desktop586-1mdv

One thing I continue using nedit for is replacing end of lines easily (they can be \
copied and pasted with the mouse from the document into the dialog). From the GUI It \
seems that this is now also possible with kwrite, but whenever I try it memory/CPU \
usage climbs excessively, it takes ages and the application often ends up crashing \
(and when it doesn't I need to kill it to recover my CPU !). On an example file \
generated with "ls -R /usr/lib > ~/test" (38 klines) nedit does it in a fraction of a \
second, while kwrite hasn't finished yet after more than 5 minutes :-( I hope this \
can be fixed for 4.1. That's a very useful feature in a text editor, and if the GUI \
allows it it should work. _______________________________________________
